Senior Software Developer .NET
The Senior Software Developer .NET has two main responsibilities. First, to maintain Pagatelia, the existing tolling automation platform, using MVC Architecture and adding new technologies and functions. And second, to create the new Violations Management Platform along with an external provider. They work with a multi-disciplinary team of developers, product owners, scrum masters and solution architects, and report to the European Director of Technology Management. They contribute their vision and expertise and challenge the team as needed.
Violations management platform
Processing incoming violation tickets is one of the biggest challenges in the fleet management industry. It involves identifying who was driving the vehicle, collecting their payment, and all related administration and compliance concerns. In the US, Verra Mobility’s Violations Processing solution has already proven to be a lifesaver for fleet management companies. The EU, however, has a very different regulatory landscape, which makes it impossible for Verra Mobility to apply the same American product to the European market. Instead, the company needs to build a solution from scratch. The software engineering team plays a key role in this, by writing high-quality code that perfectly fits the client requirements. They also work closely with an external software consulting company, who support Verra Mobility’s Madrid office with a needs-based team of developers.
Responsibilities
The Senior Software Developer .NET delivers solutions on time and on budget, against high-quality development principles. Together with the team, they ensure that all functionality is properly designed, developed, tested, and delivered, to meet the requirements. As a senior member, they also develop design documents to be used by other team members, and coach junior teammates in their roles – with the potential to lead their own small team.
The Senior Software Developer .NET also actively participates in code reviews, to ensure coding standards are enforced and adequate code coverage is maintained. They diagnose and resolve issues in Verra Mobility’s development, test, and production environments. This role plans, executes, and communicates with structure and transparency, in line with their level of seniority, leading by example, and helping to build a culture of commitment, cooperation, and delivery.
This role is impactful for a highly-experienced software engineer, who is keen to make a difference by contributing to smart mobility. The tolling platform is used by millions of car owners and drivers in Europe, and the new violations business will help shared mobility providers run their businesses more securely. As the team continues to expand, the Senior Software Developer .NET will also see their own responsibilities, leadership role, and impact grow accordingly.
