Nike
Nike does more – much more – than outfit the world’s best athletes. The mission is to bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world. From Olympic medalist to Sunday jogger – everyone with a body is an athlete. Founded as Blue Ribbon Sports in 1964 and officially named Nike in 1971, the sportswear giant now employs over 30.000 employees. Mark Parker – who first joined Nike in 1979 – became CEO in 2006 and steered the focus of the business back towards innovation and design. The results: highly successful launches of new product lines such as Free Run and Fly Knit, an increase in annual revenue of 60 percent and the market cap has more than doubled.
