My career started at the Boston Consulting Group, where I drew a lot of people into consulting. I also witnessed consultants leaving at some point. Usually, because they no longer want to be on the sidelines, but they want to actually be involved in the implementation of the advice they have given. The work/life balance is also a factor.

I found it fascinating that consultants of all levels switch to a wide range of positions, from Strategy to Operations, and in so many different sectors. Within BCG I wasn't able to become actively involved myself, so I looked beyond- and that's when you end up at Top of Minds. Top of Minds is a place consultants turn to for impartial advice. The personal connection to the candidates as well as the long-term focus is essential. In recent years I assisted a lot of companies in sectors such as Logistics, Manufacturing, and Private Equity when they attracted former consultants. Ideally, this happens within a landing spot. Which is a similar position to the consulting job they were used to, for instance within Business Development, Corporate Strategy, or another department that houses a big data component. That allows them to make an impact straight away and build on a network within the organization.”
