- HBO diploma in business or technical, complemented by NEVI 1/2 or equivalent
- 10+ years’ experience in an international environment
- Experience in maritime and/or logistics industry, and in category management
- Excellent contracting- and negotiation skills

Vacancy: Category Lead
The Category Lead is part of the Stolt Tankers business and manages and supports four Category Managers who are each responsible for a set of contracts. On average, the contracts have a value of more than €500,000 and some are much larger.
The Category Lead leverages their contracting and negotiation expertise and management skills to support the team throughout these processes. The role also identifies new contract opportunities from trends analysis provided by market analysts, to the planning and roll-out of vendor management (performance, auditing). The Category Lead will report to the Head of Global Procurement and Logistics.
In addition, the Category Lead will quickly develop a clear vision for what Stolt-Nielsen’s category management processes and, working with the Global Head of Procurement and Logistics – develop its ongoing strategy. That’s why a solid understanding of the shipping industry is essential. Another element is the structure of categories, for example splitting navigation from software, engine parts from spare parts, and consumables. This would allow team members to better focus or move between categories, as well as have clearer procurement lines between adjacent categories.
Sustainability is a main priority for Stolt-Nielsen. For the Category Lead, this is directly reflected in all supply chain-related questions and means creating supply chain transparency and insights. Who are the Stolt-Nielsen suppliers and their suppliers? How do they operate? Where can Stolt-Nielsen impact their operations? And what is the company’s overall supply chain carbon footprint?
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior category manager with maritime expertise to join a global leader in chemical logistics and make a lasting impact on the company’s category management processes and successes. The role is based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and involves some travel.
