Dredging, a long-standing hallmark of their specialty expertise, involves designing and executing large and complex, global projects, often as the primary contractor. Their objectives range from land reclamation, as in the United Arab Emirates’ Palm Islands, to coastal protection around the beaches of the Black Sea in Romania. Other major projects include port construction, as well as developing the world’s longest underwater rail and road tunnel between Germany and Denmark. Van Oord is also actively involved in energy transition, with their comprehensive engineering, procurement, and construction solutions for offshore wind projects.
In addition, Van Oord continues to become a financially smarter, more data-driven organization. That’s why they have formed a new FP&A Team for the Dredging and Infrastructure business unit, led by Jeroen van der Wolk. The new FP&A Consultant will play a vital role in translating insights and team analyses for decision making, business development, and provide senior management with long-term strategic advice.

Vacancy: FP&A Consultant
Jeroen van der Wolk (formerly the role of Roland Berger), is one of the founders of Gupta Strategists. He was appointed to lead the FP&A Team, to transform Van Oord into a smarter company, from a financial perspective, and a truly data-driven organization.
The new FP&A Consultant will work closely with Jeroen, and be the primary strategic advisor for the team’s insights, funneling them into actionable advice for upper management.
The FP&A Consultant will be the strategic internal advisor and business partner for senior management of the Dredging and Infrastructure business unit. They will provide valuable data driven financial insights and advice to support better-informed decision-making. They will also drive business development, collaborate on investment projects and tenders, and contribute to strategic processes, such as annual plans and long-term strategy.
To succeed, this role requires an entrepreneurial, quantitative, and results-driven approach, as well as strong communication and analytical skills. The FP&A Consultant will have direct exposure to multiple departments and stakeholders in this matrix organization. They will need to be a conceptual thinker who can effectively communicate complex issues at all levels.
The FP&A Consultant will report directly to Jeroen van der Wolk, and work with the Rotterdam team. They will identify and implement performance improvement opportunities, for Van Oord to efficiently achieve their strategic objectives. The company is taking major steps in data analytics and digitalization, which are key areas of focus for this role.
